How to Create Realistic 3D Faces with FaceGen Modeller 3.5
FaceGen Modeller is a software that allows you to create realistic 3D faces from one or more photos, or at random, or using 3D scan data. You can also modify the faces using over 150 controls, apply skin textures and expression morphs, and export them to various 3D formats. In this article, we will show you how to use FaceGen Modeller 3.5 to create your own 3D faces.
Step 1: Download and install FaceGen Modeller 3.5
You can download FaceGen Modeller 3.5 from here. There are different versions available, depending on your needs and budget. The demo version is free, but it has some limitations, such as no export to 3D formats and a logo on the face. The core version costs $299 and it allows you to export to 3D formats and remove the logo. The pro version costs $699 and it adds more features, such as numeric edit boxes, CSV exports, and additional model sets and hair. The enterprise version costs $1,395 and it includes FaceGen Customizer and integration tools, as well as a redistribution license.
Once you have downloaded the software, run the installer and follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Step 2: Generate a 3D face
There are three ways to generate a 3D face with FaceGen Modeller: from photos, from random, or from 3D scan data.
From photos
If you have one or more photos of a person's face, you can use them to generate a 3D face that matches the photos. To do this, follow these steps:
Click on the PhotoFit tab in the software.
Click on the Load button and select one or more photos of the same person's face. The photos should be clear, frontal, and evenly lit. You can also use the camera icon to take a photo with your webcam.
Click on the Next button and adjust the markers on the photo to match the facial features. You can also use the zoom and rotate buttons to fine-tune the alignment.
Click on the Next button again and wait for the software to generate a 3D face that matches the photo. You can also use the Previous button to go back and make changes.
Click on the Finish button to save the generated face as a FaceGen file (.fg).
From random
If you don't have any photos of a person's face, you can generate a random 3D face that looks realistic. To do this, follow these steps:
Click on the Generate tab in the software.
Select a model set from the drop-down menu. The model set determines the shape and color of the face. The default model set is FG3C (FaceGen 3 Caucasian).
Select a mesh resolution from the drop-down menu. The mesh resolution determines how detailed the face is. The default mesh resolution is High.
Select a gender from the drop-down menu. You can choose Male, Female, or Both.
Select an age range from the drop-down menu. You can choose Child (0-12), Teen (13-19), Adult (20-59), Senior (60+), or All.
Select an ethnicity from the drop-down menu. You can choose African American, Asian Indian, Caucasian European, East Asian, Hispanic American, Middle Eastern, Native American, Pacific Islander, South Asian, or All.
Click on the Random button to generate a random 3D face that matches your criteria. You can also use the slider below the button to adjust how random the face is.
Click on the Save button to save the generated face as a FaceGen file (.fg).
From 3D scan data
If you have a 3D scan of a person's face, you can use it to generate a 3D face that matches the scan data. To do this aa16f39245
